What is Sleep Apnoea?
Apnoea simply means ‘without breath’. Thereby, a person diagnosed with Sleep Apnoea will stop and start breathing causing disordered breathing during sleep. The most common type, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA), occurs when the throat partially or completely closes during sleep preventing air from entering the lungs. This happens many times over the course of the night.
Some Common Symptoms:
- Snoring
- Daytime sleepiness
- Difficulty staying asleep
- Frequent toilet use overnight
